Carrie Vernelia Linendoll was born at Arlington, Iowa, Dec. 29, 1864*, and died at Chicago, Ill., Nov. 23, 1917, aged 52 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She came to Monona in 1887 and on May 4th of the following year was married to Joseph Douglas. Six children were born to this union, three of whom, Elva, Elma and Hartley, died in infancy or childhood. The husband died July 10, 1898*
Three children survive the mother, Mrs. Wm. Hunemuller, of Lisbon, N.D.; Miss Orphia Douglas, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Walter Douglas, of Chicago, Ill. She also leaves one brother Chas. Linendoll, of Strawberry Point, Ia.; and two half-brothers, Ed Geno, of Waukon, Iowa, and Alfred Geno, of St. Olaf, Iowa.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church at Monona, Monday afternoon, Nov. 26th, at 2:00 o'clock., Rev. C.E. Baker delivering the oration. Burial at Monona.

Her husband, Joseph Douglas died July 10, 1899 (not 1898); his obit spells the surname as Douglass; their family monument in the Monona City cemetery names her as 'Nelia'
