Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Jan. 1906.

The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Samuel Bowman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Ann Guinn, at Osterdock, Iowa, Jan. 3rd, 1906, at the advanced age of 80 years and 10 days.

Katherine Learn was born in Monroe County, Penn., Dec. 23rd, 1825. She was married to Samuel Bowman June 12th, 1842, and came to Clayton with her husband in the year 18__ (looks like 67 or 87), where they resided until their death. Mr. Bowman died about 15 years ago. To them were born eight children, two sons and one daughter having passed from earth. The surviving children are James Bowman, Emily Noack, Mary Hansel, Charlotte Brown and Laura Ann Guinn, with 33 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Friday.
