Mrs. Carolyn Schlitter
Monona, Ia. Oct. 31. – Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Schlitter, 92, who died Thursday will be held Monday afternoon from the John Schlitter home. Surviving are two daughter, Mesdames Frederick Fett and Martin Franck, of Monona, and six sons, A. A. Schlitter, Theodore, Herman, William, Emil and John Schlitter, the later with whom she made her home.

Contributor: Schlitter Family ResearcherCaroline Alvina Schlitter nee Zieso was born August 6, 1839 in Marso, Langeburg, Germany and died at 11:30 a.m. October 29th, 1931 at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 6 days. Death occurred at the John Schlitter home.*
She was united in marriage to Adolph Schlitter November 15, 1862. They came to this country in the year 1869 and made their home in Chicago, Illinois. That same year they moved to Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa where she has lived ever since. Her husband preceded her in death December 16, 1915.
They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on November 15, 1912. Their union was blessed with twelve children, three however died in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Charles Topel, preceded her in death in May of this year.
Mrs. Schlitter leaves to mourn her, one brother, Albert Ziesow of Linton Township. Two daughters, Mrs. Martin Franck and Mrs. Emma Fett and six sons, Albert, Will, John, Emil, and Herman all of Linton Township and Theodore of near Monona besides 48 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
*Note: On her birth certificate, her name was listed as Katrina. Her surname on the death certificate was spelled as "Zieso" but it has also been written as Ziesow, Ziesaw, and Ziesau.
