John Cunningham, a former well known resident of Read twp., died Wednesday, Jan. 8th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Hoffman, at Merrill, Wis. at the age of about 72 years, after a short illness of pneumonia.
Mr. Cunningham is survived by two sons and five daughters, John, at Minneapolis, Minn.; Gus, at Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Mrs. Mary Tucker, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. A. Hoffman, Merrill, Wis.; Mrs. John Whittle, of Cox Creek twp.; Mrs. Wm. Davis, Sheldon, Ia.; Mrs. Atwood, of Fargo, N.D.; and one brother, Michael Cunningham of Highland twp.
The remains were brought to Garnavillo last Saturday where services were held and the interment made in the family lot.

The remains of John Cunningham were brought here from Merrill, Wis., for burial, Saturday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Raedler and interment made in the Catholic cemetery.
He was formerly a resident of the Irish Settlement. He is survived by five daughters and a son, who were present at the burial.
Thomas Barrett, of Castalia; F.J. Uriell, F. Nugent, Julia and John Farrell and Jane Connell, of Elkader; Peter Dunn, of Cox Creek and Mr. and Mrs. C. Whittle, of Littleport, were among those who attended the funeral.
