Strawberry Point: The death of Chris Warning occurred last Saturday morning in the hospital at Davenport, where he had been the past few weeks for treatment. The body was brought home Saturday evening. Funeral services occurred Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. O. Jahr. Interment took place in the local cemetery. The pall bearers were T. C. Peet, Phin Weig, Chas. Bartels, Joe Bierrer, John Huebach and Fred Lundt.
Chris Warning was born at Glambeck, Mecklenburg, Germany, April 26, 1859. He was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Hagge, Oct. 14, 1881. Soon after their marriage the young couple immigrated into this country. For many years they made their home at Mt Clemens, Mich. From there they came to Stawberry Point in 1888, which place has been his home. The union was blessed with seven children, one daughter, Edith, passed away at two years of age. Mrs. Warning preceded him in death in Jan 1, 1918. The deceased first was section hand and later promoted to section foreman on the C. M. & St. P. Railroad, working continuously for forty-four years, having quit work last fall.
He is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. Julia Van Meter and Mrs. Christina Koehling of California, Paul of Ft. Wayne Indiana, Mrs. Anna Brinacombe of Anamosa, Mrs. Julia Bruns and Mrs. Freda Noach of Westgate, also eight grandchildren and a large circle or relatives and friends.
