Clayton County Register, Wed., 12 Feb. 1936.

Miss Martha Hoeger, 14 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hoeger of near Garnavillo, passed away at the Dr. C. W. Palmer hospital here Friday morning at 4:00 o'clock, following an operation for obstruction of the bowels. The body was taken to the home of her parents Friday morning. Her untimely death is mourned by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Berns of Garnavillo, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H. Scharphoff at St. Joseph's Catholic church at Garnavillo Tuesday morning, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mrs. Theodore Berns, John Hoeger and family, Joseph Hoeger and family and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keppler attended the funeral of Miss Martha Hoeger at Garnavillo Tuesday of last week.
