Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Sept. 1903. Littleport column.
Mrs. Margaret Sullivan was called to her final rest Sept. 10th, 1903, after a short illness caused by heart trouble. She had survived her allotted time and more, being 78 years of age. She had always been a very rugged, energetic, patient, and kind woman, in fact a mother to the entire community, ever ready to extend the helping hand in the hour of affliction. She had been a widow many years, her husband having died 38 years ago. She was the mother of eight children, only two of whom are alive, James at home, and Mrs. Nellie Enright, of Dubuque. She was one of the old pioneers, having come to Clayton county in 1859,, and resided here ever since. The funeral was held Saturday, Rev. _. F. Minogue officiating at the Catholic church, of which she had been a lifelong member. A good woman has gone to her eternal rest and the large number present at the funeral most fervently attests the high esteem in which she was held.
