Anna Laura, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. May, was born in Floyd county, August 4th, 18_7, and moved with her parents to Waukon, that same fall.
She resided at that place until her marriage to Rev. G.N. Keniston, then pastor of the Frankville M.E. church, Nov. 20th, 1888. In the fall of 1889 they removed to Elkader, Mr. K. having been appointed to this charge.
Mrs. Keniston was taken sick about two weeks ago, but no alarming symptoms occurred until a disease of the brain was developed, about a week ago. Her mother was with her constantly, and her father arrived Monday. All that loving hands could do was to no avail and she passed form life at 7:30 Tuesday evening.
During her short residence in Elkader, Mrs. Keniston had won to herself the hearts of our people. She was a devoted Christian, always pleasant and her quiet way won old and young to her. It seems strange that one who seemed so suited for this life and its work should be called, but He knows best. To the young and gifted husband her death is a sad blow. To Bro. May it is a sad affliction; death for the first time invades his family and takes on of its brightest jewels; we can only join with the people of Elkader in extending their heartfelt sympathy.
Her remains were taken to Waukon today, and the funeral will take place from the M.E. church in that city, Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
