Monona- Donald Francis Montgomery, 72, of Monona, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona. The Very Rev. Richard Gaul will celebrate. Inurnment will take place in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monona, at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 4 p.m., and one hour before Mass time Saturday at the church.
Leonard Funeral Home of Monona is in charge of arrangements.

Interment: Inurnment to be held at a later date at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monona, IADonald Francis Montgomery Jr., 72, of Monona, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI, following a long illness. Don was born on July 26, 1936, Monona, Iowa, to Donald and Anna Catherine (Lechnir) Montgomery Sr. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School, Monona, Iowa, through the eighth grade and graduated from Monona High School in 1954.
Don was united in marriage to Alice Davis on December 31, 1961, at St. Mary Catholic Church, McGregor, Iowa. They were the proud parents of three children. Don worked at Peglow Motors in Monona and was a lineman for Hinkels and McCoy. He also worked for Clayton County as a maintainer for over thirty-two years.
Don was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona where he served on the parish council and taught C.C.D. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1982 and served as Grand Knight of Council #8178, District Deputy for three years and was a 4th degree Knight for twenty-three years.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Montgomery, Monona; three children, Linda Barnett, Parsons, TN, John (Sara) Montgomery, Florida, Don (Amy) Montgomery, Elkader; seven grandchildren, Lacy, Anna, Whitley, Collin, Alex, Mattie, Corbin; brothers and sisters, Shirley (Fritz) Meyer, Monona, Thomas Montgomery, Augusta, GA, Marilyn Thompson, Soldiers Grove, WI, Norma (Dick) Asleson, Monona, Jym Montgomery, Monona.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Clarence Thompson.
