Died- At his residence in Elkader, Friday, June 2nd, 1882, of quick consumption, Anson J. Ready.
Ans. Ready, as he was familiarly called, was born in Switzerland, July 2_, 1837, being therefore __years, 10 months and 9 days old. While Mr. R., was but eight years of age his parents moved to the United States, locating in Wisconsin. Here he grew to manhood, fighting life's battles alone, his parents having died when he was quite young. on the 21st of August, 186_, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Tryne, who, with five small children are left to mourn the loss of husband and father.
Mr. Ready moved to Elkader a number of years ago, and engaged in the livery business, which he was conducting at the time of his death, and was well known throughout the country. He was generous to a fault, and a whole-souled man generally.
The funeral on Sunday was conducted by Bismark lodge, A.O.U.W., of which he was a member, the Elkader, Monona and Clayton lodges A.O.U.W., the Elkader and Garnavillo lodges I.O.O.F., and the Elkader cornet band also formed in the procession, together with numerous citizens of Elkader and vicinity. The services at the grave were conducted by the A.O.U.W., and the Elkader Gesang Verein, the remarks being made by Hon. S. K. Adams.
