John Murphy, an old resident of Clayton county, died at the residence of his brother Daniel, in Cox Creek twp., on Monday, Jan. 9th, 1882, of pneumonia. Mr. M. was born in county Cork, Ireland, in 1810, being 72 years old at the time of his death. He came to this country in 1848, first settling in New York, thence going into the Southern states, and coming to Iowa in 1862, settling in Clayton county. He was married once, his wife surviving him. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery at this place, on Wednesday.
