Died.- At his home near Bismark, on Monday, October 3rd, Dr. John Brown, of crysipelas of the throat and lungs. Mr. Brown has been ailing since early in the spring, and his death was not unexpected. His funeral occurred on Wednesday, and was largely attended by friends and relatives. At his request Hon. Samuel Murdock, of Elkader, delivered an address on the life of the deceased, after which his remains were laid away to their final rest, in the cemetery at Farmersburg.
Dr. Brown was born in Yorkshire, England, and was 66 years of age. In his early manhood he was a Methodist preacher, and met with great success in that calling. He came to this country, where he practiced medicine for 23 years mostly in Wisconsin. He has lived in Clayton county 12 years and has amassed considerable property by untiring industry. He leaves five children, all grown up.
