Meyer, Alexander died 1881

Elkader Register, Fri., 8 Apr. 1881.

DIED- At his home in Volga township, March 31st, of consumption, Alexander Meyer, aged 51 years. Mr. Meyer was born in Lichtenstein, Germany, and emigrated to America in 1851. He first settled in Guttenberg, where he lived for a number of years, from there he removed to Volga township, where he has since resided. Mr. Meyer has been sick for a long time with that dread disease, consumption. He was an honest and upright man, respected by all for his many sterling qualities. His wife died just one year ago and since then Mr. Meyer has not been well. He was buried Saturday in Kann's cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by friends of the deceased, Rev. Boeding, of Guttenberg, officiating.
