Elkader Register, Thur., 3 Feb. 1881.

We learn through our Volga City correspondent that Thomas Fairburns, of Highland township, died on the evening of the 29th ult., from an over-dose of medicine. As near as we can learn the facts, they are as follows:

Mr. Fairburns was in Elkader on Saturday last, and on returning home in the evening felt unwell, complaining of a colic. He had in the house a liniment which he had used before, but instead of taking a few drops as prescribed he took an over-dose, which resulted in his death, only living a few hours after taking the medicine. The funeral occurred on Monday, his remains being laid away to their final rest in the cemetery at Volga City.
