Elkader Register, Fri., 5 Aug. 1881.

DIED - HENKES - In Wagner township, on Tuesday, July (looks like 26th), 1881. The youngest child of Adam and Christiana Henkes; aged 1 year and 9 months.

Again our hearts are called to sorrow,
For a loved one passed away;
Our beautiful and loving baby,
Could with us no longer stay.

But we will, in meek submission,
Bow beneath the chastening rod;
For another cord doth bind us,
To our future home with God.
