Elkader Register, Fri., 30 Dec. 1881.
DIED - HUNTER - At her residence in Millville township, Dec. 16th, 1881, from a stroke of paralysis, Mary A., wife of P. J. Hunter, in the 51st year of her age.
The deceased was well and favorably known in this and Dubuque counties. She was a devoted Christian and had been a member of the Baptist church for (looks like 30) years, and died in the full hope of a blessed immortality beyond the tomb. She leaves a husband and nine children and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Her remains were conveyed to the cemetery near Elkport, where they were laid away to "sleep the long sleep."
Same paper and date, in the Elk Etchings column.
Mrs. P. J. Hunter, of Millville, was buried Sunday, in the Wooldridge cemetery. She was a daughter of Mrs. D. Leighty and quite well known in this section.
