Funeral services for Russell F. Weyant, 72, were held Friday, July 5, 1996, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. Pastor Karl Goodfellow officiated the service with burial in Guttenberg City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Simon, Les Hansel, Dennis Wolf and Larry Heller. Pallbearers were Steve Anderegg, Gene Redfern, Don Sadewasser, Fred Berns, Leland Sprague and Francis Errthum.
Russell Weyant was born July 10, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Wilbur and Ruth (Kolker) Weyant. He received his education locally; farmed with his family for many years in the Millville and Colesburg area; and worked for the Dubuque John Deere Works for 25 years. On February 12, 1942, he was united in marriage with Ila Moser in Guttenberg. Russell F. Weyant died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a brief illness.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Barb Herman, Mrs. Jane (Greg) Hefel and Mrs. Lori (Raymond) Horstman, all of Guttenberg, and Ms. Judy Weyant of Dubuque; two sons, Owen "Pete" Weyant of Earlville and Tom and his wife Dorothy Weyant of Guttenberg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jeneen Cavanaugh of Lodi, Calif.; and one brother, James Weyant of Trempealeau, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; one granddaughter, Courtney (Weyant) Eglseder and one son-in-law, Robert Herman.
