Died - At the county home on Saturday Feb. 16th, E.S. Warner, who had reached the age of 97 years. He was a former resident of Elk township having lived at the home for the past nine years. The funeral was held Monday, the remains being interred in the poor farm cemetery. -Argus

Notes: This may be Steward Warner who was enumerated on the 1900 census, Read twp., Clayton County Poor Farm. Age at that time was 96, born Apr. 1804 in Massachusetts. Also on this census at the poor farm is Eliza Warner, b. Sept. 1805 in Mass., mother of 13 children. Steward & Eliza may be husband and wife.
The same death notice was published in the Monona Leader on 2/21/1901 except his initials were given as D.S. rather than E.S.
