Died - at her home in Cox Creek township, on Thursday, July 16th, 1885, Mrs. Hilke C. Meyer; age 90 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Deceased was born in the kingdom of Hanover, April 22nd, 1795, and with her husband, came to this country 30 years ago, settling in Cox Creek township.

Mr. Meyer died about twenty years ago. She leaves three sons and four daughters to mourn her loss.

The funeral occurred on Friday, her remains being laid away to their final rest beside those of her husband, on the farm where she had lived so many years.

Note: she is on the 1880 U.S. census and the 1885 Iowa State census, Cox Creek twp., Clayton county - name spelled Catherine (1880) and Katherina (1885). On the 1880 she is shown to be mother of Frank & living in his household. The 1882 biography of one of her sons, Renke E. (see on the Clayton co. IAGenWeb site), gives her husband as Renke E. Meyer, and her maiden name as Geriets.
