Elkader Register, Thur., 12 Feb. 1880.

Last Friday morning Marcus Porter, a young man who has been insane for nearly 3 years, died at the jail. For nearly six months he has refused to eat anything, food having to be forced down him, and lately food would not remain in his stomach. He was 24 years of age, and formerly resided at Garnavillo. He was buried in the cemetery on the east side, Friday.
