Services for Sula Schrader, 89, of Guttenberg were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at St. John Lutheran Church and were conducted by Pastor Harold McMillin.
Mrs. Schrader died Wednesday, March 1, 1995, at the Guttenberg Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Visitation was Friday at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home where the Order of Eastern Star service was held at five o'clock.
Burial was in Guttenberg City Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Jim Jacobs, Harvey Torrey, Larry Allyn and Donald "Butch" Borman.
Sula Mae Schrader was born Aug. 28, 1905, on the family farm in rural Garber, a daughter of Gordon and Eva (Hyde) Walters. She attended country school and graduated from Colesburg High School. She received her teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, taught country school for 13 years, and third grade at Guttenberg Elementary School for seven years. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, both in Elkport and Guttenberg. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Dorcas Circle of St. John Church.
On May 12, 1931, she was married to Frederick "Fred" Schrader at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport.
Surviving are one daughter, Lila Schrader of Guttenberg; one son, Frederick "Duane" of Guttenberg; one sister, Dorothy Legeman of Long Beach, Calif.; and four brothers, Garland and Clifford, both of Stockton, Calif., Gordon Jr. of Bakersfield,, Calif., and Russell of Pasadena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred on Aug. 5, 1990; one sister, Marie, and five brothers, Donald, Earl, Raymond, August and Lowell.
