Funeral services were held for Caroline Louise Wilke, 86, Friday, July 2, 1982, at 1:30 p.m. in Garden City United Methodist (White) Church, Monona, with Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Pallbearers were Leo Steiert, Eugene Mielke, William Wilke, Bill Little, Jerry Wilke, and George Keehner.
Caroline Louise Frieda Wilke was born February 6, 1896, at Elkader, the daughter of Michael and Agnes Muller Jensen. She was baptized at Clayton Center Chuurch, confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, in 1909, and graduated from the Elkader High School.
She was united in marriage to Walter Edwin Wilke in January of 1919 at her parents home. When they were first married, they farmed at Motor, Iowa, later moved to St. Olaf, then to Farmersburg and in 1955 they retired to Monona. She died Tuesday, June 29, 1982, at Riverview Care Center, Guttenberg.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Walter, who died November 3, 1976. Surviving her is her brother, Eiler Jensen, Elkader, and her sister, Ida Michaels of Lakeland, Fla.
