John B. Putz 88, died at his home here Friday after a short illness.

Services were set tentatively for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St Mark's church, with burial in the Edgewood cemetery. the body is at Rhines Funeral Home.

He was born in Elkader in 1859, the son of John and Margaret Putz. he married Mary Schacherer on Jan. 11, 1887, at Strawberry Point. they farmed near Edgewood, moving to town some years ago. She died in 1928.

Surviving are three sons, Edward J., of Chicago, Albert and Dr. Arthur, both of Edgewood; four daughters, Sister Mary Edward of St Rose convent, Lacrosse, Wis., Bertha of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Walter Thyne, of Strawberry Point, and Alice, of Edgewood; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Amling, of Edgewood. He was preceded by a daughter, Sister M. Phyllis, in 1944, and three sons, in infancy, in addition to his wife.
