Guttenberg Press, Thur., 9 July 1931.

Fred Wilson Learn, better known as "Freddie", youngest son of Bradley and Lizzie Learn, was born near Garber, February 11, 1914, and died at his home Friday morning, July 3, 1931, at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 22 days.

He was from a family of five children, his only sister, Lulu, preceding him in death. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Howard, of Medford, Wisconsin; John of Guttenberg; and Dale of Colesburg; an aged grandfather, Mr. John Hansel; three nieces, three nephews, and a large number of relatives and friends.

He was baptized with Howard Learn's children by Rev. O. E. Johnson. He attended the Colesburg Consolidated School for eleven years and was a member of Boys' Glee Club in his Freshman year and took part in declamatory work this past year.

Fred was a boy who cared a great deal for his home life and was greatly loved and respected by his teachers, classmates and by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Bradley Learn residence with Rev. Nothdurft, of Colesburg, officiating. During the service two selections, "No, Night There" and "Ivory Palaces" were sung by Arthur Blaker, Milton Nothdurft, Wilma Bolsinger and Cora Wessell, schoolmates of the deceased. Interment was made at the Brown Cemetery.

The pall bearers were Esther Schulte, Ray Hahn, Chance Brown, John Benskin, Harry Simmons and Frank Lee, the remaining members of a class of twenty-five acting as Honorary Pall Bearers.

The funeral was largely attended with out-of-town guests from Luxenburg, Dubuque, West Union and Pennsylvania present.
