Mrs. Baars died June 18 at Manchester Hospital. For the past year she had been in failing health and had been hospitalized at Iowa City and Manchester. She had returned to live with her sister a short time and then was readmitted to the hospital where she was to spend one day prior to her death.

A daughter of Fred J. Caroline Wolter Stahl, Amy was born in Cox Creek Township on October 19, 1914. She was educated in the rural school of the community. She was baptized at Peace Church in Elkader and confirmed there on April 10, 1949. It was in this church that she was united in marriage with Alfred R. Baars on June 6, 1939.

After her marriage she and her husband operated the Baars farm, near Elkader, for about a year before moving to Strawberry Point where Mr. Baars was employed as a feed salesman. They later returned to this area where they made their home until 1950 when Mr. Baars was killed in a tractor accident.

Mrs. Baars then returned home to live with her parents and help care for them. In December, 1967, she and her brother moved to Volga City where she made her home since.

She is survived by her brother, Gerald Stahl, Volga; her sister, Mrs. Ellsworth (Grace) Alderson, Strawberry Point; two nieces and seven grandnieces and nephews.

Casketbearers for her last rites were: James Shea, Art Elvers, Hugh Tenney, Melvin Scott, Harold Ehrhardt and Henry Cords.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by an infant sister.
