Clayton County Register, 18 Aug. 1937.

Ben Glesne, 48, hanged himself in the granary on the Tom Herbranson farm in Wagner township yesterday morning. The suspended body was found by Mr. Herbranson.

No reason could be found for the rash act but that he had contemplated the deed was evident from a note to his wife which he had left. The note contained only two words, "Good-bye Inga."

He is survived by his wife. Though Coroner Leslie Oelke was called to the scene no inquest was held.

Clayton County Register, Wed., 25 Aug. 1937.

Ben Glesne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Even Glesne, was born December 1, 1889, on a farm near St. Olaf, where he lived with two sisters and a brother until he was 34 years of age.

December 6, 1922, he was married to Ina Knudtson at Portland, Ore. After their marriage they moved to a farm about 2 1/2 miles west of St. Olaf, which is known as the old Ole Wald farm. Here they remained until April, 1936, at which time they moved to Farmersburg where Mr. Glesne owned and operated a service station. In April of this year he sold his interest in the service station and was retired until the present date.

During his spare time he helped with a few of the farm duties at the Tom Hebranson farm, at which place he met his untimely death on August 17, 1937, at the age of 47 years, eight months and 16 days. During his life he had always been a member of the Norway Lutheran church, having been confirmed therein.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his father, one brother, Oscar; two sisters, Mrs. Theo. Thorson and Elvira, all of this vicinity; also many uncles, aunts and cousins, along with a host of friends. His mother preceded him in death in 1930.

Services were held Friday, August 20 by the Rev. S. J. Strandjord, from the home at Farmersburg at 1:15, at Norway church at 2 o'clock, with burial in the family lot at the Norway cemetery.

Pallbearers were: James Probert, Farmersburg; Mike Reardon, Farmersburg; Herb Strien, Farmersburg; Waldo Embretson, St. Olaf; Ben Gulsvig, Monona; Lester Oelke, Farmersburg; Orvin Embretson, St. Olaf, and Ben Fuelling, St. Olaf.
