Farmersburg- Funeral services for William Baade, 74, who died at the home of his son, Clarence, Elkader, after a long period of failing health, were held at St. John's Lutheran Church here Friday. The Rev. Mr. Steege officiated.
Mr. Baade lived alone at Farmersburg until he made his home with his son some time ago.
He is survived by two sons, Clarence, Elkader, and Helmuth, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers, John and Louis, both of Farmersburg; and one sister, Mrs. William Eggers, Farmersburg.

William Baade, son of Joseph and Dorothea Freimann Baade, was born in Wagner township, Clayton county, on Sept. 02, 1871. In early infancy he was baptized in Zion's Lutheran church of Clayton Center. He spent the days of his youth on his father's farm.
On March 04, 1898 he was married to Anelia Riechoff. The ceremony was performed in Read township. Shortly after this, they moved to a farm about three miles east of Farmersburg. Here they lived for about ten years, after which they moved to Farmersburg. In 1918 they again moved to a farm West of Farmersburg but because of the poor health of his wife, they remained on the farm only one year and then moved back to Farmersburg. Mrs. Baade's health continued to fail and she died on April 19, 1933. Since that time Mr. Baade lived alone.
Mr. Baade's health began to fail last fall. On Christmas Day his son Clarence, took him to his home near Elkader where he died on Jan. 02, 1946 at 2:46 a.m. at the age of 74 years and four months.
He is survived by his two sons, Clarence of near Elkader, and Helmuth of South Dakota; seven grandchildren, two brothers John and Louis of Farmersburg, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Eggers of Farmersburg, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, Jan. 04, at 1 o'clock at the home of Clarence Baade near Elkader, and at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church Farmersburg, R. H. Steege, pastor.
