Postville- George H. Jones, a retired farmer, 72 years old, died Friday very unexpectedly at his home. He was born in the state of Indiana Dec. 8, 1857, and as a child came with his parents to Iowa. August 13, 1890, he was married at Waukon to Miss Adie Jennewine of Postville. The first fifteen years the couple made their home on a farm in Allamakee county but the balance of their life they spent on a farm in Clayton county near Hardin. He is survived only by his wife.
Funeral ceremonies were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Monona, where Rev. Joslin officiated. Interment was made at the Monona cemetery.

George H. Jones, the son of John and Sarah Jones, was born in Indiana, Dec. 8, 1857, and departed this life from his home in Hardin, Clayton county, Iowa, on Nov. 15, 1929, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and seven days. On Aug. 13, 1890, he was united in marriage to Addie Jennewine. Mr. Jones came to Iowa in 1863, with his parents, settling in Monona. After his marriage, he and his wife went to farming, making their home in Allamakee county for fifteen years. They later moved to Clayton county, where they lived until they retired in 1928, coming to rest for a few short months of their later days in a house on the edge of the village of Hardin. About 25 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Jones joined the Bethel United Brethren church and attended services there when his health permitted. In later years they contributed to the support of the Luana Methodist church and always lived devoted and consecrated lives. There remains to mourn his loss, his beloved wife and two nephews, Porter Jones, of Hartley; Colby Jones, of Luana; four nieces, Mrs. Chester Pearson of Postville; Mrs. Lillie Palmer of Quinby; Mrs. Allie Knight of Waukegan, Ill.; and Mrs. Melva Lurant of St. Louis, Mo., besides a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was known to all as an honest, upright and industrious man, a good citizen, friend and neighbor, and all who knew him will mourn upon learning of his passing. Funeral services were conducted from the First Methodist church, Monona, Nov. 18, at two o'clock. Rev. Louis H. Joslin, pastor of the church, officiated. Interment was made in the Monona cemetery.
