Thelma L. Mathews, 93, of Geneva Towers, died Saturday in Mechanicsville Care Center, Mechanicsville. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Murdoch Chapel in Marion. Burial: Farmersburg Cemetery, near Farmersburg. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jon (Jean) Smith of Marion.

Also surviving are a grandson, Lewis Smith, and a great-grandson, Nathan Smith, both of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Born the daughter of Helmuth and Arabelle Little Oelke July 7, 1897, in Farmersburg, she married Leigh Mathews there Dec. 22, 1920. He died in 1976. She taught school at Farmersburg and Luana for several years. Mrs. Mathews was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, and Royal Neighbors of America.

The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate.
