Farmersburg- Gerald Herbert Palas, 79, of Farmersburg, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, in University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, by the Rev. Bruce Hanson. Burial, with military honors: Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Verda; three children, Jerome of Cedar Falls, Jerel of Farmersburg and Jeff of St. Louis; and a sister, D'Elda Erickson of Postville.
