Died, June 4th, 1889 of brain fever, Otto, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lape, aged 5 years, 6 months and 4 days.
The funeral of Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Kellett, was largely attended by sympathizing neighbors and friends. His little school mates covered the little casket with flowers while singing that pathetic hymn, “Scatter Seeds of Kindness.”
The bereaved parents have the sympathy of all in their affliction. Mr. and Mrs. Lape return thanks to those who so kindly assisted them during the sickness.
Elkader Weekly Register: June 20, 1889
Note: Otto is probably buried in the Clayton cemetery, where his parents resided.
