Died on February 21st, 1889, Joachim Ortmann, aged 74 years.

Mr. Ortmann came to this country 31 years ago, and settled on a farm in this township, where he has resided ever since.

Mr. Ortmann was a man who was highly respected. He was honest and upright in all his dealings and has a legion of friends who mourn his death. To his bereaved wife and family we extend our heartfelt sympathies, for they have truly lost a kind and noble husband and father.

His remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at this place, Rev. Fuchs officiating. The funeral was very largely attended, being one of the largest ever held in Elkport.
