On May 6th occurred the death of one of our oldest and respected citizens, Mrs. Margarette W. Kimber. Mrs. Kimber was born in Virginia on May 16th, 1827, being at the time of her death, 81 years, 11 months and 20 days old.

The funeral was held in Schnepf's Hall on Sunday, interment at the Garber cemetery, Rev. Hubbel, of Edgewood, officiating.

She leaves to mourn her loss four daughters, Mrs. Amanda Borrett, of Garber, Mrs. A.J. Galer, of Edgewood, Mrs. Frank Thayer of Battle Creek, Mich. and Mrs. Clara Sawie and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, besides a host of friends.

May she rest in peace.

W.E. Beddow and wife, of Waukon, and T.E. Beddow, of Caledonia, Minn. attended the funeral of their aunt Mrs. Kimber, Sunday.

W.W. Franks, of Guttenberg, attended the funeral of Mrs. Kimber, Sunday.

Mrs. Margaret Kimber, aged 83 years and one of the old pioneer settlers of this vicinity, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Borrett last Thursday. The funeral was held Sunday. Rev. Hubbel, of Edgewood had charge of the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Garber cemetery.

Notes: w/o Zara C. Kimber, who died between 1870 and 1880, burial place unknown, possibly in the Old Garber cemetery. Her maiden name is from "Ohio, Marriages, 1800-1958," database, FamilySearch.org
