Obituary.

Maria Witte was born May 4th, 1851, in Clayton County, Iowa. In 1868 she was married to Christian Kaiser. For a few years the young couple lived near Garnavillo, but moved on a farm in Cox Creek township, near Osborne, in 1871, which has been their home ever since.

Mrs. Kaiser, who had been in feeble health for some years, was relieved from all her earthly sufferings Saturday, March 9th, at 4 o’clock in the morning at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 5 days.

Her departure is mourned by the aged husband and four children; two children preceded their mother in death, one of them in infancy. The children still living are: Lizzie and Ludwig, at home; Mrs. Emma Heiden, of Rinksted*, Iowa, and Mrs. Augusta Stillian, of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Deceased also leaves two grand-children, one brother, Herman Witte, of Rock Rapids, Iowa; one half-brother, John Silvers*, of Bremer County, Iowa, who was present at the funeral, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the house and at the German church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Franke officiating. Interment at the East Side cemetery.

___
Notes:
The residence of daughter Emma Heiden is Ringsted, Iowa, not Rinsted or Rinksted.

Further research has shown that her half-brother was John Silber, not Silvers.
