William Hunt, of Mallory township, one of the early settlers of Clayton, died on Sunday morning last, February 17, 1889, after a short illness.
Mr. Hunt was born in Green county, Pennsylvania, September 13th, 1817, and consequently was a little over 72 years of age at the time of his death. He has always followed the occupation of farmer, and in 1850 located in Mallory township on the farm where he died. He was married in 1843(?) to Miss Delilah Hartley, and by her had nine children, of whom six are living.
Mr. Hunt was highly respected by all, and his death is deeply mourned by his many friends and old time neighbors.
The funeral occurred Monday at 2 p.m., at Colesburg, the services being conducted by Re. McNumee. The remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends.
