Wilson, Augusta Davis died 1870

Died in McGregor, on Wednesday evening, October 5, 1870, of dyptheria, Augusta, adopted child of Fred and Hannah V. Wilson, aged 9 years, 8 months and 21 days.

Augusta, one of the fairest flowers that was ever plucked by the grim monster, death, was the daughter of Mrs. L. V. Davis, upon whom the loss of her darling child must fall heavily indeed. Beautiful, gentle and gifted Augusta, was endeared not only to her mother and guardians but all who knew the bright-eyed, kind-hearted little girl, loved her. But, she is gone! The purest of earth thus fades away early. This world seems to have no abiding place for a nature so angelic as hers. Our sympathies are with the sorrowers, but we give the encouragement in that she has gone is a better and happier world Above!
