A sad case of self-destruction has come to our hearing. A Norwegian named, Nels Oleson, residing in Highland township, committed suicide on the 25th of February, 1870, by hanging himself in a tree.
Until last fall Oleson was noted in his neighborhood for his cheerful, lively disposition, but this winter he seemed to be remorse and gloomy, for what cause is unknown. His family relations were all pleasant, and it is impossible to find any cause for the perpetration of the rash act.
He went out in the evening of the 25th, telling his wife he was going to the barn, but never came back. Search was made for him, but he was not found until Monday, the 1st of March, then his body was found dangling from a tree, about a mile from his house.
Oleson leaves a wife and two children, who must be seriously distressed over this unaccountable act of a once kind husband and loving father.
