Clayton County Register, Thur., 15 Mar. 1934.

The deceased, Almeron Cook, one of eight children of A. D. Cook and his wife Caroline, nee Schemihorn, was born August 1, 1849, in Joe Davis county, Illinois. His parents, sisters and brothers preceded him in death.

When he was two years old, his parents moved to Iowa and located in Boardman township, Clayton county.

In the year 1872, he was married to Flora Ann Atwood of Reed township. Three children were born to this union: Ashel Cook, F. A. Cook and Ora Cook. Ashel and Ora died while still children, leaving F. A. Cook as the only surviving child.

The deceased spent most of his life in Clayton county, Iowa. From the time of his marriage in 1872 until the year 1903, he resided on a farm near Elkader. In 1903, he moved to his home in Elkader. After the death of his granddaughter, Mrs. Joseph Larson, in September, 1933, he made his home with his son, F. A. Cook, until his death on the 7th of March, 1934. He reached the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 6 days.

Mr. Cook's hearing became affected about five years ago and continued to grow worse as years passed which made it difficult for him to mingle with others. For the last eight months, he had been afflicted with asthma, but not in an acute form until about two weeks ago, but he was confined to his bed for just three days before his death.

He leaves to mourn his departure besides above named son, two grandchildren, Helen and Harold Cook, Gladys, his other grandchild having preceded him in death; two great-grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, from the home of his son F. A. Cook at 1:30, and the Evangelical church at 2:00. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.
