Died at his home in this city (Postville) Dec. 3, 1896, John H. Sanders aged 73 years.

The deceased was born in New York state in 1823 and came to Iowa in early life and settled on a farm near here, where he lived until his removal to town several years ago. During his residence in our midst he has held several positions of honor and trust and by his kindly manner and honest, upright life has won the regard and respect of the entire community.

Several weeks ago he was stricken with the disease which at least caused his death.

He leaves a wife, two sons and four daughters to mourn his death, one daughter having preceded him to the better world. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, of which he was a member, Sunday at 10:30 A.M., conducted by Rev. Bargelt assisted by Rev. Pollard. A very large concourse of mourning friends followed the remains to their last resting place.
