Donald Robert Yohe of Gilbert, Arizona passed away March 30, 2015 in Chandler, Arizona at the age of 95. Donald was born in Clayton, Iowa to George and Elsie (Luther) Yohe. He married Mary Lee Adams. He is survived by his children Ralph (fiancee Mia), Bernie, Aletha and her husband James DeRonde, Dean and his wife Nikki, and Roger and his wife Karen; 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Lee Yohe; son Dennis Yohe; parents George and Elsie Yohe; brothers Morrell, Eugene,and Virgil who died in infancy; sisters Phylis Schute, Irene Freese, Marcella who died in infancy, and Katherine "Kay" Clefisch.

Donald was raised on the family farm near the Mississippi River in Clayton, Iowa and graduated from the Guttenberg High School at Guttenberg, Iowa. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and for over four years served in the United States Army during World War II as a training sergeant in California and later in the Italian Campaign. After the War, he farmed, played minor league baseball, and then attended Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato State University, and the University of Northern Iowa.

He was a long-time educator who taught and coached in Waterville, Iowa and Fort Thomas, Arizona. He served as a high school principal in Hansell, Iowa for two years, Ackley, Iowa for eight years, and Colfax, Iowa for fifteen years. During many summers, he worked as a crop hail adjuster and traveled around the Midwestern States working with farmers and local insurance agents. Donald and Mary retired to Tempe, Arizona in 1989, lived in Gold Canyon, Arizona, and finally in Gilbert, Arizona where he received care from his daughter Aletha DeRonde and her family.

Don belonged to the Colfax-Mingo Alumni Association, Colfax Historical Society, Jones-Willis American Legion Post 175, the Camp Roberts Historical Museum Foundation, and was a former president of the Colfax Kiwanis Club.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Falconer Funeral Home at Gilbert, Arizona.

NOTE FROM THE TRANSCRIBER: This obituary did not list his burial place but his wife Mary was buried at the cemetery at Clayton, Iowa after she had passed away. It can be assumed that he was buried at Clayton with her at a later date.
