One of Clayton County’s Pioneers meets a horrible death by burning.

Last Wednesday, August 26, 1895, Mr. James Carr was driving home from Monona, his clothing took fire, from a pipe which he had in his pocket. Mr. Lytle saw the smoke and went to the rescue. The fire was extinguished and Mr. Carr was taken to his home. He was so badly burned that he died Thursday night., August 27th.

The funeral will take place at his home this afternoon, September 5th, at 2 o’clock. Mr. Carr was 70 years of age and unmarried.
