Died at Bristo, Bulter Co., Iowa, at the advanced age of 75 years, 10 months, 2 days, Priscella L. Crosby, nee Porter.
Mrs. Crosby was born at Baltimore, Md., June 20th, 1818, and came to Ohio at the age of 17, where she married Caleb Crosby in 1838. Five children, Dan. H., Ellen, the wife of D. B. Clair, Matilda, Abi, and Caroline, were born to them in Ohio.
In 1853, the family came west to Johnson county, Iowa, and two years later, they removed to Bear Creek, Clayton Co., where they remained for many years. Here 3 children, John, Henry and Ida, were born and Ellen and Hannah were married.
Since then the deceased and her husband have lived successively in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri, and finally settled down with their grandchildren. They stayed for several years at this place, where the deceased made many friends by her kind manners and pleasing recollections.
Several years ago they went to Bristo, to the home of Mrs. Hannah Bunker, where Mrs. Crosby died, from the effects of dropsy, Feb. 22, 1894.
During the last two months of her illness she suffered greatly, but patiently, and was ready to go to the Father when the summons came. Peace be to her ashes.
