Downie, Lilias died 1863

Died in Boardman township, October 30th, 1863, Lilias Downie, aged 62 years.

This must have been a sad bereavement; to our old, well-known, and esteemed friend, John Downie. Coming to this county at an early day, undergoing all the trials and hardships of a pioneer life, the deceased, his wife, shared all these willingly. In rearing a large family she was continually bent upon their comfort and happiness.

The deceased was a native of Scotland, and like all the daughters of that classic land was frugal, industrious, and devoted to those around her. A faithful wife, a kind mother, and a noble example of womanly fortitude has thus departed for the skies.

A large number of friends followed the remains of the deceased to their last resting place.
