Died on the 6th of February, 1862, Fredereic the only son of Mr. Rufus Gates, aged 3 years and 9 months.

Among the richest treasurers of earth is children. Their value a found and doting parents above knows when removed by the hand of death, they leave a vacancy which nothing earthly can fill. And there are children that from peculiar circumstances occupy a large place in a parents affections and whose loss are a greater and sorer bereavement, which was the case in this instance and particularly in the last.
