Willard Adams, eldest son of Kimbal and Alvina Adams, was born in Russeltown, Canada, on Oct. 26th, 1835. He came to Iowa with his father's family in 1850 and settled on a farm one mile west of Luana.
He died on Dec. 14th, 1906, at his home near Myron, Allamakee County.
Deceased was married to Jane E. Merriam in 1855 at Harden. Three children were born to this union, Emma, Albert and William, the former two children dying in infancy, while Will lives near Luana. On March 5th, 1878 his wife died in Luana where they were then living.
On Oct. 3rd, 1887, he was again married to Eva B. Marsh and to them were born three children, Burdell, Clarence and Asher, who, together with the widow survive to mourn his loss.
He was an old soldier of the Civil War, having responded to the call of the president at the beginning of the war. He enlisted in Co. B, 21st Regiment, Iowa Infantry Volunteers, and served faithfully with his regiment until discharged from service.
Thus one more old soldier has passed from this earth and its sorrows, only remembered by what they have done.
