William Howe, an old and respected citizen of Clayton, Iowa, Dec. 15, 1895 at 1 p.m. Deceased was born in Plan Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany the 5 of July 1820 being therefore 75 years 5 mo., and 10 days old.

He has been a resident of Clayton since 1865. He was married in Germany, but his wife dying he came to America settling at Clayton.

He was married again, and again he was left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife in 1875.

In 1877 he was married to Mrs. L. Redwicht of Guttenberg who survives him; along with one son from his first wife, in the person of Henry Howe.

Mr. Howe, during his long residence in Clayton has made many friends, being an honest, accommodating and sociable man. In politics he was a Liberal Republican. He will be greatly missed by the neighbors, as he was of a jovial friendly disposition and always had a kind word for the children.

He has been sick off and on for over a year and has suffered a great deal, and now his journey is at an end. May he rest in Peace. He was buried Tuesday, in the Clayton cemetery. Rev. Sommerlad officiated.
