Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, 1961, at the Witt Funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m., for Frank George Sylvester of Littleport, with the Rev. Murlin Hansel, pastor of the Edgewood Congregational Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Union cemetery at Littleport.
Pallbearers were Charley Hubbard, Ray Schmidt, Leslie Homewood, Leroy Kuehl, Harold Liddy and James Stocks.
Frank George Sylvester, son of John and Melisa Sylvester, was born January 29, 1876, at Hopkinton, Delaware county, Iowa, and died Sunday, July 9, 1961, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after being confined to the hospital for two weeks.
Mr. Sylvester received his education in the rural schools of Delaware County and farming was his life's vocation.
He was married to Margaret Sheppard at Hopkinton, December 3, 1894.
Mr. Sylvester moved to his home near Littleport in 1918, coming from Allamakee county where he had resided for 9 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother, two infant sons, Rosswell and Elbert, and two great-grand-daughters, Valerie Debes and Mary Frances Reedy.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Frances Nading, Elkader; Mrs. Ida Nading, Manchester; and Mrs. Bernard (Elinor) Kellogg, Manchester; and one son, Dale Sylvester, Strawberry Point; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
