Elkader- C. C. Oehring, 80, Elkader's oldest druggist and widely-known northeast Iowa businessman, was found dead in bed Wednesday about 11 a.m.
Born in Marquette Sept. 8, 1871, he came to Elkader to study pharmacy under the late F. D. Bayless. in 1893 he became associated with Mr. Bayless in the drug store and continued its operation after the death of Mr. Bayless in 1920. He had been active in business here for the last 63 years.
His hobby was raising flowers, especially gladiolus and iris, and gardening.
He was married in 1893 to Miss Augusta Ploog, Marquette. His wife died in 1922.
Mr. Oehring is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Newell Kramer, with whom he made his home, and a brother, William H. Oehring of Postville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Kramer home. The body is at the McTaggart funeral home. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.
