McGregor- Memorial services for Dr. Fred Cole Hicks, 82, who died Monday at his home here, will be held in the Pilkington funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. Ashes will be taken to Aitkin, Minn., for burial.

Dr. Hicks received his B.A. degree from Cornell college, Mt. Vernon, and his Ph.D. degree from John Hopkins university. He was professor of romantic languages at Monmouth college, the University of Wisconsin and Dakota Wesleyan college, Mitchell, S.D. Following retirement, he lived in Aitkin until the death of his wife. He came to McGregor in 1946 and bought a house here. He is survived by his sister, Miss Fanny Hicks.
