Elkader- Mrs. Jennie Bachtell, 78, died Monday. Services Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Peace Evangelical Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery, Volga.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Bachtell were held from the Oelke funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed chrch at 2 p.m. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the Hill Crest cemetery at Volga City.
Jennie Marie Rinkert was born in Highland township, Clayton county, Iowa, May 15, 1872, the only daughter of George and Christina Rinkert. She received her education in the rural school near her home.
On July 16, 1890 she was united in marriage to George Bachtell of Volga. The first few years of their married life, they lived in Volga. They moved to Elkader in 1907. This was her home until seven months ago when she returned to Volga to make her home with her nephew, Fred F. Rinkert and where she died November 13, 1950, at the age of 78 years, five months and 28 days.
She had been in ill health for the past three years.
She was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader.
Her husband preceded her in death, Nov. 26, 1917 and a daughter Frances in 1892. Also two brothers, George Rinkert in 1910 and John Rinkert in 1929.
She is survived by two nephews, two nieces and their families and several cousins.
Pallbearers were N.H. Niemeyer, Ray Barton, Frank Phillips, Will Goodin, Fred Seybert, A.A. Shultz.
